McBurney and Company are proud to sponsor young Allan McBurney in his Moto-cross career. Riding under McBurney Racing, Allan has already had an illustrious few years with finishing in the top 10 of both the Ulster and Irish Moto-cross championships.

Every year Weston-Super-Mare hosts an event known to the riders as the Weston Beach Race. The gruelling three-hour

race takes place on the beach circuit which is approximately three miles in length and involves negotiating several sand hills and jumps. Weston is the largest off-road motorcycle event in the UK and one of the largest in the World. The event is something of a marathon, with it's line-up including several World Champions. Many competitors, including Allan, participate in order to raise funds for Charity.

"Heartbreak Hill" here we come...
Roberta and Rachel McBurney bravely joined more than 600 women, including former Olympic champion Mary Peters, for the spectacular Belfast Telegraph Runher event on 29 June 2008.  The 5km race aimed at raising money for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent saw women of all ages and abilities take to the roads around east Belfast for the fundraiser. Representing CLIC Sargent was 21-year-old Katrina Black who was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 11. She had to use a wheelchair for some time after her operation but these days she is vice-chair of the Belfast Youth Forum and has been to the House of Commons to raise awareness of surviving cancer.

Official starter on the day, Dame Mary Peters, pentathlon gold medallist at the 1972 Munich Games walked the east Belfast course. Fortunately early morning rain eased off into breezy sunshine for the 690 women who signed up.  Roberta signed up for the run along with several other members of the Ladies Workout Express Gym and they all thoroughly enjoyed the event. Rachel was persuaded by her enthusiastic mother to sign up and managed to cross the finish tape a short distance ahead of her mum! She is now under pressure to maintain her breathtaking pace throughout the 8k run planned for Ormeau Park in October and the 10k in 09.

Spring 08 has brought a welcome addition to the firm. Sharon Rowland has joined our bookkeeping department, working solely from the Banbridge office. She has considerable experience in the field of general legal work and Solicitors bookkeeping. Sharon lives locally to the office and therefore is familiar with the area and surrounding businesses.  McBurney & Co. are happy to have her on board. Her warm and endearing personality has ensured her smooth integration into the firm. Sharon's involvement helps to further develop and enhance our friendly and efficient working team

Staff Profiling
Valerie joined our Banbridge office staff on a one year training scheme in 2003 and having stayed beyond her traineeship, is now a familiar face at the busy Banbridge reception desk. Her receptionist colleagues in our offices in Kilkeel (Ruth) and Newcastle (Maureen) are in regular contact with her as they together coordinate and process the business of
each day, keeping the lawyers and secretarial staff fully updated and informed at all times.

Victoria McBurney recently returned from a summer spent working as a volunteer in the African country of Burkina Faso. During her time there, Victoria helped re-paint a school and spent much time
working with the youth of this impoverished nation. At McBurney & Co. we are proud of Victoria’s charitable endeavours and were happy to sponsor her for this venture.

Wisdom Spanning 50 Years
Doreen, our Law Clerk, is woven into the fabric of the practice in a way which defies proper description. She has worked for the firm for over 50 years and is as busy and essential as ever. Everyone in the firm, across all four offices, looks to Doreen for guidance,

information and wise counsel. Her patience is inexhaustible, her experience infinite and her knowledge profound. On top of all that, she is one of the most pleasant individuals you could ever hope to meet. What more can we say.

He was persuaded to dress in his racing kit for photographs with some of the artists involved.

Ulster Under-13 Chess Championship Son Hard to Beat
Trevor McBurney yet again attempting to beat his 13 year old Ulster Under 13 Chess Championship winning son at a game of Chess, with his keen-eyed daughter, Arianna, umpiring to ensure fairness at all times. Marcos McBurney competes in various games with his
School Chess team and is yet to loose a competitive game against any other School. Whilst Arianna McBurney, like Trevor is part of Marcos’s PR and Media team, as we call it, she would much prefer spending her time at gymnastics & swimming.
